Cement Boards
TENMAT’s High Temperature Engineering Boards provide outstanding service in applications where high temperatures or heat transferences are a problem or where long term insulation at temperature is required. The High Temperature Product Line is designed to operate at elevated temperatures offering, primarily, thermal insulation performance, but also outstanding electrical properties. Highly resistant to thermal shock, these products exhibit low heat storage and thermal conductivity properties, making them the preferred choice for energy conservation applications.
FURNACE/FOUNDRY
For furnace applications a high strength insulation is required. The typical induction furnace has the mainframe clad in a high temperature composite. Its duty is to provide secondary heat and electrical insulation. The insulation must be able to withstand splashing by molten metal and the typical rough service of working foundry. TENMAT Boards have all the required properties to fulfill this role and have been widely employed for many years.
GLASS WORKS
Handling hot glass requires special care to prevent contact thermal shock with cold surfaces which can lead to strength reducing micro cracking of the glass. TENMAT’s High Temperature Boards are widely used for pusher blocks, fingers, transfer rollers, lehr door insulation, dead plates and much more.
FORGINGS/STAMPINGS
The most common method of heating both ferrous and non ferrous metals before forging or stamping is through induction heater boxes. This generally consists of an induction coil clad with an insulation material. The temperature of the billet is in the region of 1832°F so the material needs to be capable of withstanding this temperature. TENMAT Boards have been approved by the leading manufacturers of induction heater boxes.
ALUMINUM INDUSTRY
Aluminum smelters make wide use of high temperature composites. TENMAT materials are used in strip form between pot covers and cathode frames and in pad or plate form between the anode support, the control gear and the super structure. TENMAT Boards are the ideal materials for crust breaker discs and door frames.
MACHINING SERVICE
Machining should be carried out with Tungsten Carbide tipped tools for maximum longevity. Select cutting speeds to minimize heat generation. It is a normal practice to machine TENMAT materials dry with dust extraction at the cutting point. Full extraction plant or an industrial vacuum cleaner should be used. ARCLEX is best cut wet using Tungsten Carbide or diamond tipped tooling.
